NOW is the time to engaGE!

The week of 6-13 July 2008 is another opportunity to engaGE! There will be opportunities to cook, serve, give to, care for, and love people in Geneva. People you might not normally see or meet.

“Bloom where you are planted” is an interesting quote for those living in the greater Geneva area. With so many people just passing through many of us do not really take the effort to engage with the area and the people.

Well, that is changing with engaGE Geneva – a movement of volunteers engaging with Geneva by serving its people in practical ways. EngaGE seeks to catalyze existing non-profit associations in Geneva by offering these associations the help of many volunteers. During the first annual engaGE service week in July 2007, we overwhelmed Geneva with kindness and service.

Over the course of five days, more than 170 volunteers served in 20 projects throughout the city. For example, we organized basketball and golf clinics, art classes for underprivileged children and a picnic for the women and children of a women’s shelter in Geneva. After that week, many of the volunteers wanted to continue serving during the rest of the year and as a result, engaGE is now an ongoing movement.
